Health Care Trends...What Does the Future Hold?...

One thing is certain regarding the future of health care and all its associated components - Information Technology will continue to be at the forefront in order to manage the amount of data being collected. One area, specifically, is how different aspects of health care will be named. For example, the following thread respresents how data is looked at from the past to the future -- Collect Data | Retrieve Collected Data | Report Data | Manage Information | Leverage Knowledge -- with last being ever more important as companies compete in a hyper-competitive health marketplace and look for ways to create multiple revenue streams to deeply monetize their respective business models. You don't even get to the health care until the right information is collected, stored, analyzed, modeled, projected and then, if you're lucky, you actually get health care...

Social Engineering is another, ever present, concept that finds its way into every health care transaction. If you can create a "value based health care" message to your audience and attach their value system to it then you can create a much more synergistic relationship and can localize your process even though the respective health care management corporation's headquarters are halfway around the globe. One trend that is sure to continue it that of consolidation and ever bigger corporate conglomerates look to take control of this critical information called health care. It is a very profitable business to be in because with the way that contracts are written and the type of health care insurance policies being issued the burden is going to fall on the consumer...which is the case with most market relationships.

Buck Consultants, a leading global human resources consulting firm released a recent report outlining the various increases that can be expected in the health care industry. For example, the report states that from the year 2001 to 2002 on could expect to see an increase of:

  • +0.8% increase for Indemnity Health Insurance related costs
  • +0.9% increase for Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) related costs
  • +1.7% increase for Point-of-Service (POS) related costs
  • +1.5% increase for Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) related costs
  • -1.6% decrease for a Prescription Drug Card...this bucks the trend...

  •    One can certainly expect these general trends to stay their respective course for the foreseeable future. If you want to gather some real intelligence relating to you specific health care costs please visit the following link for a free rate quote nationwide or by state.
